Kevin knew he was destined to be a stand-up comedian when at the age of just 8 months he fell ten feet down a stairwell and banged his head on a newspaper rack. Because of this people have been laughing at him ever since.
Stand-up veteran Dave Thompson is probably best known for playing Tinky-Winky in the Teletubbies – especially after he was sacked in July 1997 because the BBC thought his interpretation of the role was 'unacceptable’. Dave plays a semi-regular character in both series of Al Murray's sitcom Time Gentlemen Please, and two cameo roles in Ben Elton's feature film Maybe Baby. Dave has appeared in ITV's The All New Harry Hill Show, and TV Burp! and plays various roles in Harry Hill's stage show, Wild Horses. more... |

Kevin Dewsberry – MC continued Although a couple of degrees colder, Huddersfield had more to offer young Kevin, for a start they had more chip shops and a course at the University in theatre studies. Whilst he was there he acted in and directed various productions in between cavorting merrily with the locals and students alike. He also joined the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain playing numerous roles and in doing so was involved in more cavorting and sell out shows performed to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival and the Battersea Arts Centre, London. Following this he went on to prance about for another year at the Central School of Speech and Drama and proved himself as a talented straight actor. However, years of being told what to do by other people led him astray to the stand up circuit and in a relatively short time he made his way quickly through the ranks of aspiring stand ups to the final of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and now Kevin performs all over the UK at clubs including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, universities and festivals. As soon as he steps on stage the audience quickly realise they are in the company of a natural born performer. His material ranges from storytelling, observations on daily life and killer one liners. He is also faultless at mimicking accents. Due to his impeccable comic timing Kevin is guaranteed to leave crowds wanting more of his top-notch humour and because of this, he was snapped up to perform at the Edinburgh Festival in the sell out 'Big Value Comedy Late Show' 2004 and has recently completed a national tour with 'Joke Machine' Tim Vine. He is also constantly sought after for his acting work, most recently appearing in an advert for Nat West Student Bank Accounts and is currently working on a television project with Perrier Newcomer Will Hodgson "Slickness and sheer talent win you over in one click of his comedy fingers' - Time Out "An excellent comedian who doesn't get the recognition he deserves, which is scandalous, one of the most underrated comics on the circuit, a great headline performance." - Toby Foster (Grinreaper.co.uk) 'Cracking Stand up, smashing, funky, lively, remarkable, individual and fresh' - Three Weeks. TV CREDITS INCLUDE: James has written and performed four Edinburgh shows:
James Dowdeswell: 7 (Gilded Balloon 2005) "James Dowdeswell is a real master of the comedian's craft, being able to almost seamlessly layer joke upon joke to form this wonderful and often hilarious one-man show. It is a genuine pleasure to be in the company of this master gag smith for an hour, an experience that few should really pass up." **** Chortle "Intelligent and inventive" **** The List "This is feel-good comedy with a capital F. If he isn't a sell out I'll eat my hat." ****Three Weeks "Witty one liners and extended pieces - like Eminem rapping Shakespeare - proved a triumph." Venue Magazine. "The crowd adored him, in no small part due to his honesty and natural presence on stage, and I think we all came out of the auditorium feeling that we'd actually got to know someone, as well as being entertained." Three Weeks. "Daniel Kitson may have spearheaded this sort of touching delicate comedy of awkwardness, but there's surely more room than one comic to follow the same style, and the next could be the scrawny Mr Dowdeswell."
